Assignment was an expatriate based in the United Kingdom. Product is point to multipoint CDMA/spread spectrum technology based telephony bypass utilizing latest custom ASIC, processor and DSP technologies. Successfully gained British Telecom acceptance of product leading to orders in excess of $90M. Instituted new methodologies for project/program performance tracking based on cycle time performance demonstrating time and cost to complete metrics. Produced a product future vision concept and program plan including a number of patents in this area of technology. DSC Communications Corporation, Plano, TXAug 94 - Dec 95 Program Director Promoted to Director to be primary program manager in a rapid development project to produce an international Access Division Digital Loop Carrier product: Litespan 120. Primary contributor in developing product definition, product launch, rollout plans, P&L forecasting, project and business plans. The product was a 120 line primary MUX/ODLC product with electrical and optical network interfaces using V5.1 concentration techniques. Record of program delivery on-schedule, under budget. Resulted in initial sales in excess of $4.5M. DSC Communications Corporation, Plano, TXMar 92 - Aug 94 Senior Product Manager Promoted to Senior Manager responsible for all project management on Integrated Multiservice Transport Node (iMTN 4/3/1/0 cross connect program using full custom ASIC and OO design using SmallTalk). Acted as primary interdepartmental Launch Team chairperson. Led to a Co-chair Technical and Program Committee position with two international collaborations for combined SDH and SONET standards. Delivered initial international customer for the product and managed a collaboration with UK based company to provide network solution. Developed and implemented Product Life Cycle Process. Primary interface to Bellcore for Technical Auditing/Analysis. Successfully attained product acceptances at MCI and other major carriers and RBOCs. Managed cost reduction and feature enhancement projects. Responsible for all project/program status and performance and customer interface to development organizations. Architect of plans to reduce inventory 60% improved cycle times by 200%. Reuters Information Services, Los Angeles, CAOct 86 - May 89 Regional Manager Directed all Field Service, Customer Service, and Network Operations activities for the North American Western Region supervising a staff of twenty-one. Established 24-hour service procedures and customer contracts. Developed strategies and technical implementations for private CATV Broadband network in downtown San Francisco. Created and implemented fully automated trouble reporting system. Implemented new point-to-Point based digital data network replacing loop-based system improving availability. Equatorial Communications Company, Mountain View, CAAug 79 - Oct 86 Satellite Network Supervisor/Engineer Conducted the initial design and installation of the Satellite Network Control Center specializing in VSAT spread spectrum technology. Established and composed all Standard Operating Procedures for the two-way communications networks operating on Galaxy and Westar satellites. Moved up the technical ladder through the following positions (latest to earliest): Network Supervisor, supervised 10-18 controllers, engineers, and support personnel in high pressure environment; Product Support Specialist, providing training/support to nationwide service organization, composed service manuals and methods of procedure, developed and engineered two RF products for the company; Senior Field Engineer, served as lead engineer for eastern region, implemented MTBF failure tracking system and Mean Time to Respond goals and measurement system for field service operations; Field Engineer, responsible for 101 accounts including multi-user CPM systems, satellite earth station service and installation.
