Hands-On IP Fundamentals

Course Objectives

The objectives of the course are:

  1. Develop a "hands-on" skill set targeted at Voice over TCP/IP networking in the following key areas:
    • Voice encapsulation
    • Signaling and Control of Voice Services
    • IP Addressing and Subnetting
    • Routing Voice Services and the control plane of IP
    • Voice Quality of Service with IP
  2. Be able to design VoIP networks and subnetworks using expertise developed in this class
  3. Use and understand selection options of VoIP routing protocols

  4. Use and configure fundamental properties of VoIP Quality of Service

Target Audience

The target audience for this course is anyone in the telecommunications field that requires a solid and complete understanding of the fundamental operations of VoIP in networking and desires hands-on skills that can be applied to their job function.  Ideal candidates are:

  • Course Pre-requisites

    CellStream has designed this course to appeal to anyone needing the skills and knowledge of VoIP.  The ideal student will have some experience in network operations.  No prior knowledge is necessary. 

    All students must attend with a lap-top computer in order to interface to the CellStream Lab.  If the course is held at a classroom where computers are available, the Lap-top computer will not be required.
