There are two 4G courses; namely this Wireless 4G 101 Foundation Course and the Wireless 4G 201 Advanced Course. This Foundation Course is a prerequisite for taking the Advanced course. In other words the student should take this Wireless 4G 101 Foundation Course before taking the Wireless 4G 201 Advanced Course.
Course Description:
The demand for high speed wireless connectivity is growing, with some analysts predicting that there will be over 2 billion mobile broadband users by 2015. Spectrum is a scarce resource and mobile operators are embracing technologies like Wi-Fi, femto cell, and wireless USB technologies in order to provide a complete broadband solution. This course describes and contrasts the different wireless technologies that provide connectivity for delivering broadband subscriber services, with a particular focus on the LTE.
The 4G 101 foundation course is focused on understanding 4G/LTE terminology and the Evolved Packet System (EPS) architecture. It will compare and contrast LTE with other broadband wireless technologies including HPSA+, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. This course will also provide an overview of the key features in LTE-Advanced and the emergence of fifth generation (5G) wireless networks.
The attendee will be provided access to ongoing Q&A and discussion for the subject. We will deliver this on site or via web meeting tools in two 4-hour sessions. This briefing is designed to meet the needs of anyone that requires insight into these 4G emerging technologies from managers to designers.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this course the student should be able to:
- Understand the terminology used in 4G wireless systems
- Compare and contrast the different 4G technologies
- Describe the functional components that enable the convergence to an all IP network
- Distinguish between 3G, 4G and 5G
Audience:
The target audience for this course is anyone in Engineering, Test, Customer Support, Technical Marketing, or even Sales and Marketing that requires an understanding of the fundamental operations of 4G and seeks to comprehend the challenges of 4G that can be applied to their job function.
Ideal candidates are:
- Operations individuals that will provide 4G configuration and support services
- Network Design Engineers that need to understand 4G
- Network Management individuals that are providing element and network management tools
- Technical sales individuals that must be able to correlate features with functionality
- Technical marketing individuals that want more than just a basic understanding of 4G
- Certification Track individuals that need to expand their knowledge and studies
- Network Administrators
Course Prerequisites:
This course is designed to appeal to anyone needing the skills and knowledge of the 4G emerging technology. The ideal student will have some experience in networking and operations, however no prior knowledge is necessary.
Course Materials:
Students will be provided with a Course Student Guide via the Online School of Network Sciences as well as many course reference materials.
