Course Description: 
This course examines Wi-Fi 802.11 Networking and Market Opportunities. This class is ideal for anyone looking for an introduction to WLAN’s and how Wi-Fi supports wireless network connectivity in both the enterprise and service provider environments. This course is a 1-day course on 802.11, as part of the Wireless course offerings at CellStream. It will provide the attendee with an understanding of the basic operation and terminology of the 802.11 Wireless Networking technologies. It will discuss the how users connects to the Wi-Fi network and sends data, how Wi-Fi still works in the presence of interference, and common Wi-Fi network problems and solutions. This course will also cover changes to the Wi-Fi network to support deployment of carrier-grade hotspots and interworking with Cellular networks.
Course Objectives:
The overall objective of this one day overview is to provide sufficient insight to the main subject and thus provide a baseline for creating the next generation multimedia wireless solutions for products and services. The attendee will be provided access to ongoing Q&A and discussion for the subject. We will deliver this course via web meeting tools in two 4-hour sessions. This course is designed to meet the needs of anyone that requires insight into these Wi-Fi technologies, from managers to designers.
To develop a focused technology view targeted at Wireless 802.11 with a focus on the operational aspects of a Wi-Fi network. The following key areas are covered:
- Introduction to the 802.11 specifications
- 802.11 operations, including scanning, connecting, and sending data
- Contrast DCF and PCF
- Power Save mode
