Course Description:

The Internet has been converting to IPv6 for well over a decade.  Yet for many, clear understanding of the differences between IPv4 and IPv6 are not clear.  This swift, one day, 8 hr. class uses a "follow me" learning approach to build skills, the student will get a clear understanding of IPv6, how its addressing and operations work, and how it differs from IPv4.

The course is a combination of knowledge training, systems analysis, with hands-on exercises using Cisco routers and Cisco IOS, revealing the details of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) in a swift, comprehensive, and understandable way.

Course Objectives:

To develop a "hands-on" skill set targeted at Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) networking in the following key areas:

  • What is the IPv6 Protocol?
  • How does it improve IPv4?
  • What does IPv6 addressing look like and how is it used?
  • IPv6 Usage in Routing
  • Multicast and Anycast IPv6 Features

Audience:

The target audience for this course is anyone in Engineering, Test, Customer Support, Technical Marketing, or even Sales and Marketing that requires a solid and complete understanding of the fundamental operations of IPv6 Addressing and Routing and desires hands-on skills that can be applied to their job function.

Course Prerequisites:

This course to appeals to anyone needing the skills and knowledge of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) routing and networking. The ideal student will have some experience in IP networking and operations, however no prior knowledge is necessary.

All students must attend with a lap-top computer with Remote Desktop Connection software supporting Remote Desktop Protocol in order to interface to the Router Labs (this software comes with Windows, and is available free for MAC OSx and Linux). If the course is held at a classroom where computers are available, the Lap-top computer will not be required.

Course Materials:

Students will be provided with a Course Student Guide and a Lab Guide. Also, a lab system for configuration and labs will be provided.
