Course Description
IPv4 remains one of the fundamental technologies behind modern networking. Enterprise networks, broadband networks, service-provider infrastructures, data centers, cloud environments, and countless customer networks continue to depend upon IPv4 addressing, routing, and TCP/IP operation.
For anyone responsible for installing, supporting, designing, operating, or troubleshooting networks, understanding IPv4 requires much more than simply knowing what an IP address looks like. Network professionals need to understand how addressing and subnetting work, how packets are forwarded between networks, how routing protocols exchange reachability information, how different IP services use the network, and how Quality of Service can be applied when traffic has different performance requirements.
This hands-on course develops those practical TCP/IPv4 networking skills.
Students learn through a combination of instructor-led explanation, network configuration, systems analysis, and hands-on exercises using Cisco-based routing lab systems. The labs allow students to configure, observe, verify, and experiment with the concepts discussed throughout the course.

Course Prerequisites
No previous in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP or IPv4 is required.
A general familiarity with computers, networking, Ethernet, or telecommunications is helpful, but the course is designed to build the necessary IPv4 knowledge from the fundamentals upward.
Students will use a hands-on router lab throughout the course. Students participating remotely should have a computer capable of connecting to the provided lab environment.
For on-site classes, students should bring a laptop computer unless suitable classroom computers are being provided.
