CellStream, Inc. consultants have designed all types of training programs under the guidelines of Bloom’s Taxonomy, including our own.
Bloom’s Taxonomy is a framework that organizes different levels of cognitive learning, helping educators design lessons that build from simple understanding to complex critical thinking. Originally developed by Benjamin Bloom in 1956 and later revised, the taxonomy identifies six levels of learning: Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating. The lower levels focus on recalling facts and comprehending ideas, while the higher levels involve using knowledge in new situations, breaking concepts apart to examine relationships, making judgments, and producing original work. This hierarchy provides a structured way for teachers to develop objectives, assessments, and activities that progressively deepen student learning.
In practice, Bloom’s Taxonomy serves as a roadmap for both teaching and learning. For example, students may start by memorizing definitions (Remembering), then explain concepts in their own words (Understanding), and later solve problems using those concepts (Applying). As they advance, they might compare and contrast theories (Analyzing), critique arguments (Evaluating), or design a new solution or project (Creating). This progression encourages higher-order thinking skills, ensuring that learning moves beyond rote memorization to meaningful application and innovation.
